Google display ad sizes in 2026, and what to upload

Google display ads come in two families: responsive ads, which you feed with images in three shapes, and uploaded banners in fixed sizes. Here is every spec that matters for a small store, checked against Google's help pages in October 2026, with what StoreToAds delivers for each.

Responsive display ads: the images Google asks for

Vertical 9:16900 x 1600600 x 10671080 x 1920
Google Ads Help, responsive display ads guide, October 2026. Up to 5120 KB per image.

One landscape and one square image are required; vertical is optional. Google suggests 5 to 10 images per shape, and a weekly batch of StoreToAds ads gives you that variety without new photo shoots.

Performance Max and Demand Gen also take a vertical 4:5 image (960 x 1200 recommended, 480 x 600 minimum). Our 4:5 file is 1080 x 1350, above that. Google has also started moving Display campaigns into Demand Gen: eligible advertisers could begin migrating in June 2026, and Google says new campaigns will later be created in Demand Gen only.

Three things to know before you upload ours

  • Our landscape is the same ad, placed. The 1200 x 628 file shows the full 4:5 design in the center, with its background carried to the sides. It is not a re-flowed wide layout, so its text appears smaller than in the 4:5.
  • Google prefers some images without text. Its best-practice guide for responsive display ads advises against overlaid text, logos and buttons, because Google adds your headline and logo itself. These are recommendations, not rules: mix our designed images with a few plain product photos from your store.
  • Our square is 1080, not 1200. It is far above Google's 300 x 300 minimum, but a little under the 1200 x 1200 recommendation.
