What an HTML5 ad is
An HTML5 display ad is a small web page packed into a ZIP: an HTML file plus its images and scripts, sized for one banner slot such as 300x250. It can animate and react inside the ad, and it reports clicks through a click tag that the ad network sets.
They're used mostly on display networks and programmatic buys. Each size is usually its own file, and networks set limits on file weight and animation length.
Do you really need HTML5?
- For Meta, Instagram and Pinterest: no. They run images and video, not HTML5. PNGs and MP4s are what you upload.
- For Google Display and Performance Max: usually not. Responsive display ads built from images (1.91:1 and 1:1) cover most placements, and Google only lets some accounts upload HTML5 ads at all.
- For a programmatic buy or a media plan that names exact sizes: yes. That's where a dedicated HTML5 tool or a designer earns its keep.
For that last case, see how a dedicated HTML5 tool compares.
What you get from StoreToAds instead
Every ad is designed around your real product photo, with prices and reviews checked against your store, and delivered at 4:5, 1:1, 9:16, 2:3 and 1.91:1. Because the source is HTML, every word stays editable: change a headline in the editor and all five sizes are rendered again. The motion version animates the same design as an MP4.
Honest note: HTML5 export and fixed banner sizes aren't offered yet. We'll update this page if that changes.
