A Google Web Designer alternative when you don't need HTML5

Google Web Designer is Google's free desktop app for building HTML5 ads and interactive content, with full control over animation, code and layout. StoreToAds is the opposite trade: no design work and no code, just image ads made from your store. We don't make HTML5, so here is how to choose.

What Google Web Designer is great at

Google Web Designer is a free HTML5 design and development tool. It has quick and advanced animation modes, 3D with CSS, templates, an easy mode, dynamic ads that connect to data, interactive components and direct editing of HTML, CSS and JavaScript. It publishes to Google's ad tools and Drive. For rich media and animated display banners, it is the standard free choice.

Many small brands don't need HTML5 at all. Google's responsive display ads and Performance Max take image assets, a 1.91:1 landscape and a 1:1 square, and fit them to placements across the network. StoreToAds makes both with every ad.

Honest note: if your campaign or ad server requires HTML5 files, StoreToAds can't produce them. Google Web Designer can.

Which one should you pick

  • Google Web Designer if you need animated or interactive HTML5, have design time, or your buying platform asks for HTML5.
  • StoreToAds if you want image ads for Meta, Google's responsive formats and Pinterest without designing anything.

How it works

How StoreToAds makes it

  1. 01

    No install, no code

Paste your store link in the browser. There is nothing to download or learn.

  2. 02

    Images Google accepts

Each ad includes a 1.91:1 (1200x628) and a 1:1 file for responsive display and Performance Max.

  3. 03

    Plus your Meta sizes

The same ad also comes in 4:5, 9:16 and 2:3, so one batch covers feeds, stories and Pinterest.

  4. 04

    Checked and editable

Prices and quotes match your store. Click any word to change it and every size updates.

Questions

Does StoreToAds export HTML5 for Google Ads?

No. Ads export as PNG images and 7-second MP4s. Use them as image assets in responsive display ads or Performance Max.

Is Google Web Designer really free?

Yes, it is a free download from Google. The cost is your time: you design and build every ad yourself.

Do I need fixed banner sizes for Google?

Not for responsive display ads or Performance Max, which resize your images to fit. Fixed sizes like 728x90 matter mainly for HTML5 or uploaded banner campaigns, which StoreToAds doesn't make yet.
