Carousel ad examples: five product carousels, card by card

A carousel ad is a set of cards people swipe through, each one its own image. Below are five carousels for fictional product brands, each built from four or five single-image designs of one product, with the job of every card and the specs for Meta and Pinterest.

In short

A carousel ad shows several images or videos in one ad that people swipe through, each card with its own link. On Meta a carousel has 2 to 10 cards; on Pinterest, 2 to 5. Product brands use carousels to tell a short story, answer one doubt per card or show a range.

Five carousels, card by card

StoreToAds doesn't make carousels. We make single-image ads, each in five sizes. Every carousel on this page is four or five of those single images, put in order the way you would in Ads Manager, and Send to Meta sends single-image ads, so a carousel is something you assemble from the files you download. The designs are our engine's sample ads for fictional brands, made on October 17, 2026.

A story in five steps: a question, the craft that answers it, a customer who noticed, the worry about care, and a reason to buy more than one.

  1. Warm beige Ashglaze Studio ad: 'Why won't any two of these mugs match?' with 'match?' in rust italics, beside a speckled oatmeal stoneware mug with a 'no two alike' note, a customer quote, 4.9 from 712 reviews and a 'Find yours · $36' button.

    Card 1 of 5 · Hook

Why won't any two of these mugs match?

A question you want answered: why won't any two match? Because each one is thrown and glazed by hand.

  2. Beige grid-paper Ashglaze Studio ad: 'Made by hand, down to the thumb.' above a speckled oatmeal mug with four numbered callouts: holds 12 oz, speckled glaze, raw clay foot, thumb-rest handle. 4.9 from 712 reviews and a 'Shop the mug · $36' button.

    Card 2 of 5 · Detail

Made by hand, down to the thumb.

The craft, part by part: 12 oz, speckled glaze, a raw clay foot, a thumb rest on the handle.

  3. Dark brown Ashglaze Studio ad: '“The handle fits my hand perfectly.”' with five gold stars, a note from Carly B., a speckled oatmeal mug of coffee held by the handle, 4.9 stars from 712 reviews and a 'Shop the mug · $36' button.

    Card 3 of 5 · Proof

“The handle fits my hand perfectly.”

A customer confirms the detail from card 2: 'The handle fits my hand perfectly.'

  4. Rust orange Ashglaze Studio ad: 'MYTH: Handmade mugs are too precious for the dishwasher.' struck through, then 'FACT: Ours is dishwasher and microwave safe.' A speckled oatmeal mug, a taped review note and a 'Shop the mug · $36' button.

    Card 4 of 5 · Objection

MYTH: Handmade mugs are too precious for the dishwasher.

The worry about handmade things, answered: dishwasher and microwave safe.

  5. Light gray-beige Ashglaze Studio ad: 'One for you. Three for your friends.' beside a large speckled oatmeal mug, two small taped photos, a 'Free shipping on orders over $60' badge, a quote from Paul S., and a 'Shop the mug · $36' button.

    Card 5 of 5 · Offer

One for you. Three for your friends.

The last card turns one mug into four, with free shipping on orders over $60.

Each card also works alone. On Instagram, Meta may open a carousel on whichever card a person is most likely to respond to, while the order stays the same. A card that only makes sense after the one before it can be the first one someone sees.

Luggage bought online comes with the same few doubts. Each card answers one: will it fit the bin, will my things fit in it, is it well made, does it hold up on a real trip.

  1. Light airport terminal photo, Farhaven ad: 'Made for the overhead bin.' with a slate gray hardside carry-on beside a person in a trench coat and white sneakers, a quote from Ben L. with five stars, and a 'Shop the Carry-On, $245' button.

    Card 1 of 4 · Fit

    Made for the overhead bin.

Made for the overhead bin, shown next to a traveler: the size question, answered with a photo.

  2. Dark navy and cream Farhaven ad: 'How does a 22-inch bag hold a week of clothes?' answered by 'A compression panel. 39 liters. 7.9 lb.' beside a slate hardside carry-on, a five-star Japan quote, 4.8 from 2,875 reviews, a 'Shop the Carry-On' button and $245.

    Card 2 of 4 · Capacity

How does a 22-inch bag hold a week of clothes?

How does 22 inches hold a week? A compression panel, 39 liters, 7.9 lb.

  3. Light beige gridded Farhaven ad: 'Look closer.' with a gray hardside suitcase on the right and a circular zoom of its metal logo plate. Three features are listed, then 4.8 stars from 2,875 reviews, $245, and a 'Shop the Carry-On' button.

    Card 3 of 4 · Build

    Look closer.

A zoom on the shell and three features: polycarbonate, spinner wheels, a TSA-approved lock.

  4. Dark navy Farhaven ad: 'Ten days in Japan out of one carry-on.' credited to Elise N. with five tan stars, a slate gray hard-shell suitcase, two short review cards from Raj M. and Clara S., 4.8 from 2,875 reviews and a Shop the Carry-On $245 button.

    Card 4 of 4 · Proof

“Ten days in Japan out of one carry-on.”

A real trip, in a customer's words: ten days in Japan out of one carry-on.

Order the doubts the way a shopper meets them. Size before capacity, capacity before build, and the review last, where it confirms everything before it. For the Facebook Feed, where Meta's carousel spec is 1:1, use each design's square file instead.

For a product people research, walk through the features one card at a time and save the price for the end, when the value is clear.

  1. Dark navy Velorin Audio ad: 'Quiet outside. 40 hours inside.' with a photo of gray over-ear headphones. Four labeled callouts point to parts: hybrid active noise cancelling, 40 mm drivers, memory-foam ear cushions, 10-minute charge = 4 hours. 4.6 stars, 3,215 reviews, 'Shop the V2' button.

    Card 1 of 5 · Overview

    Quiet outside. 40 hours inside.

The two headline features, quiet outside and 40 hours of battery, with four parts labeled.

  2. Light gray-blue Velorin Audio ad: 'What does hybrid noise cancelling actually turn down?' with a checklist (engine hum, traffic, office chatter), a photo of graphite headphones, $179 with $219 crossed out, free shipping, and a 'Shop the V2' button.

    Card 2 of 5 · Feature

What does hybrid noise cancelling actually turn down?

What the noise cancelling turns down, as a checklist: engine hum, traffic, office chatter.

  3. Dark charcoal Velorin Audio ad: 'Bluetooth headphones only pair with one device.' struck through in orange under a MYTH tag, then a FACT line on Multipoint Bluetooth 5.4, a laptop and phone diagram, a 5-star quote and a 'Shop the V2' button beside gray headphones.

    Card 3 of 5 · Myth

Bluetooth headphones only pair with one device.

A belief crossed out: these switch between laptop and phone with multipoint Bluetooth 5.4.

  4. Light gray Velorin Audio ad: '“Flights are actually peaceful now.”' with 'peaceful' underlined in blue, five stars, a quote from Jonah K., a 4.6 rating from 3,215 reviews, graphite headphones on a desk by a laptop, and a 'Shop the V2' button.

    Card 4 of 5 · Proof

    “Flights are actually peaceful now.”

A reviewer on a flight, the use case from card 2, in his own words.

  5. Sky blue Velorin Audio ad: '$219 → $179' with the old price crossed out and a huge $179, an orange Free Shipping on all orders sticker, three checks (2-year warranty, 40 hours ANC on, 10 min = 4 hours), 4.6 from 3,215 reviews, a gray headphone photo and a $179 button.

    Card 5 of 5 · Price

    $219 → $179

$219 crossed out, $179, free shipping and a 2-year warranty: the deal, once the value is made.

A price card works best last, but it may be shown first. That's fine here, because this one also lists three features. Make sure your offer card can stand on its own too.

Gifts are bought on a feeling and justified by what's inside. This carousel starts with the feeling and ends with what makes the box special.

  1. Burgundy and cream Bowfinch ad: 'Someone you love deserves a night in.' over a photo of an open maroon gift box on a chunky knit blanket, holding a candle, mug, socks, chocolate and a note. A card shows 4.9, 892 reviews, $68 and a 'Give The Cozy Night In' button.

    Card 1 of 4 · Moment

Someone you love deserves a night in.

The occasion: someone you love deserves a night in, with the open box on a knit blanket.

    Card 2 of 4 · Contents

    Five cozy things. One box.

Five numbered items, so the buyer knows exactly what $68 gets.

  3. Deep burgundy Bowfinch ad: '“My sister cried when she opened it.”' with five stars above, a second review from Rebecca N., 4.9 average from 892 reviews, an open burgundy gift box with five items, and a 'Send The Cozy Night In $68' button.

What happens when it's opened: 'My sister cried when she opened it.'

  4. Dusty pink Bowfinch ad: 'The note matters more than the gift wrap.' with 'Unpopular opinion:' above it, a photo of an open burgundy gift box with a candle, mug, socks and a small card, a quote from Grace F., 5 stars, and a 'Send one with a note, $68' button.

    Card 4 of 4 · Detail

The note matters more than the gift wrap.

The handwritten note in every box, argued as the part that matters most.

The deadline goes in the text, not on every card. Before a holiday, add your last shipping date to the primary text, which Meta suggests keeping to 125 characters on Instagram, so the cards stay true after the date passes.

Pinterest · 4 cards at 2:3

Pinterest carousels take 2 to 5 cards at 1:1 or 2:3. This one moves from the look of the ritual to why it tastes that way, using four 2:3 pins of one matcha tin.

  1. Soft beige and white ad with a wooden tray. Jadecliff Tea Co. ad: '21 days in shade. One calm bowl.' above a green matcha tin, a bowl of matcha, a bamboo whisk and scoop, a 4.9 rating from 874 reviews, a 'Shop the tin · $32' button and free shipping over $45. Shown in the 2:3 size.

    Card 4 of 4 · Proof

    4.9 out of 5, quietly.

4.9 out of 5 from 874 reviews, with a customer quote.

You can't read results card by card on Pinterest. It charges a promoted carousel's impressions as one ad and reports it as a single Pin. Judge the carousel as a whole, against a single pin made from its best card.

A carousel suits you whenA single image suits you when
The product has several parts or steps worth showingOne fact or one photo makes the case
Shoppers have a few doubts to clear before they buyThe offer is the news: a price, a bundle, a date
You sell a range and want one card per productYou're testing which reason to buy works best
Each card can link to its own product pageYou want to send it straight from StoreToAds (Send to Meta sends single images)

A good test: run the carousel against a single-image ad made from its best card. If the single image does as well, the extra cards weren't adding much.

  1. Make four or five designs of one product, each leading with a different reason to buy: a question, a detail, a review, an objection, an offer.
  2. Put them in the order a shopper's doubts come up, and check that each card still makes sense on its own.
  3. Download each design in the carousel's shape: 4:5 for the Instagram Feed, 1:1 for the Facebook Feed, 2:3 or 1:1 for Pinterest. Every paid StoreToAds design comes in all three.
  4. In Ads Manager, create a carousel ad, upload the images as cards in your order, and give each card a short headline and its own link.
  5. Write one primary text for the whole carousel. Meta suggests 125 characters for the Instagram Feed and 80 for the Facebook Feed.

Mistakes that sink carousels

  • Cards that only work in order. Meta may open an Instagram carousel on a later card. 'And there's more' on card 3 means nothing to someone who starts there.
  • One picture split across cards. A panorama cut into cards can look broken when the carousel opens on its second half.
  • Five cards that say the same thing. If every card shows the product and the price, the carousel is one ad repeated.
  • A different look on every card. Keep the colors, type and photo style together, so the cards read as one ad, as in each example above.
  • The wrong shape. Meta's Ads Guide lists 4:5 for Instagram Feed image carousels and 1:1 for Facebook Feed carousels. Pinterest takes 1:1 or 2:3.

Questions about carousel ads

What is the carousel ad format?

A single ad made of several cards, images or videos, that people swipe through. On Meta each card can have its own link, and a carousel takes 2 to 10 cards. Pinterest carousels take 2 to 5 images.

What is an example of a carousel post?

The Ashglaze carousel above: five cards about one handmade mug, from a question about why no two match, through the craft and a review, to a reason to buy four. Each card is a single-image ad for a fictional brand.

What is the difference between a carousel and a slideshow?

People swipe through a carousel's cards themselves, and each card can link somewhere different. A slideshow plays its images one after another on its own, like a short video, with one link for the whole ad.

Can you still do carousel ads on Facebook?

Yes. Meta's Ads Guide lists carousel specs for the Facebook Feed, with 1:1 images and 2 to 10 cards, as of November 4, 2026.

What size should carousel ad images be?

On the Instagram Feed, 4:5 for carousels of images only; on the Facebook Feed, 1:1. Meta lists at least 1080 x 1080 pixels for both. Pinterest carousel cards are 1:1 or 2:3, up to 20 MB each.

How many cards should a carousel ad have?

Meta allows 2 to 10 and Pinterest 2 to 5. For one product, three to five cards is usually enough to tell the story; past that, cards start repeating each other.

Does StoreToAds make carousel ads?

No. We make single-image ads, each in five sizes. You can build a carousel from several of them in Ads Manager, as on this page. Send to Meta sends single-image ads, not carousels.

Single-image ads to build carousels from

Paste your store link. We make single-image ads around your real product photo, each in 4:5, 1:1, 9:16, 2:3 and 1.91:1, ready to run alone or as carousel cards.
