Instagram Story ads that keep your product out from under the buttons

A Story fills the whole phone screen, but the top and bottom of it belong to Instagram: the profile name and progress bar above, the reply bar and call to action below. StoreToAds keeps your product, headline and price in the band people actually see.

The Story spec

Instagram Story
Size1080 x 1920 px
Ratio9:16, full screen
Where it showsInstagram Stories, Facebook Stories, Messenger Stories
Safe zoneKeep the top, bottom and side edges free of text and logos. The Safe zone guardrail in Ads Manager shows the exact area.
Rule of thumbAbout 14% clear at the top and 20% at the bottom: roughly 270 px and 380 px
Meta Business Help Center, October 2026. The percentages are a common working rule, not a Meta number.

Meta also warns that on screens taller than 9:16 it may zoom the ad to fill the screen, which crops whatever sits outside the safe zone. Keep the words that matter well inside it.

What a Story ad needs

  • A headline in the upper middle, big enough to read in the second or two before the next tap.
  • The product large and central. A product that looked fine in the feed can look small at full screen, so go bigger.
  • The price next to the product, not on the bottom edge where the reply bar sits.
  • Strong contrast between words and background. Thin, light type on a busy photo disappears.
  • One reason to buy per Story. To test three angles, run three Stories.

How our Story version is built

Every StoreToAds ad is designed and checked at 4:5, then placed full width in the middle of the 1080 x 1920 canvas. That leaves a 285 px band above and below, filled with the ad's own background, and those bands land where most of the Story header and reply bar sit. The design itself stays in the visible middle.

Want movement? Any ad can become a 7-second MP4 in 9:16 (and 4:5): the same design, animated in, then holding still. It is a motion ad, not a filmed video, so there is no presenter, voiceover or music.

Send to Meta uploads the 4:5 version as a paused draft. For Stories, download the 9:16 file and add it to the Story placement in Ads Manager, where you can set a different image per placement.

How it works

How StoreToAds makes it

  1. 01

    Paste your store

Products, prices, ratings and reviews come from your product pages. Screenshots or typed details work if your store blocks automatic reading.

  2. 02

    Designed for the middle band

The 4:5 design is checked for layout and facts, then placed into 1080 x 1920 with the bands where Instagram's buttons go.

  3. 03

    Add motion if you like

Turn any ad into a 7-second 9:16 MP4 on demand. It does not use an ad from your plan.

  4. 04

    Upload the 9:16

Download the PNG or MP4, or one ZIP with every size, and attach the 9:16 file to your Story placement.

Questions

Will the Story version cut off my headline?

The headline sits inside the placed 4:5 design, below the 285 px top band, so the Story header does not cover it. Check the bottom line with the Safe zone guardrail, and if it sits too low, shorten or change it in the editor before you download.

Do Facebook Stories use the same file?

Yes. Instagram, Facebook and Messenger Stories all take 9:16, so one 1080 x 1920 file covers them.

Can I make a video Story?

You can turn any ad into a 7-second motion MP4 in 9:16. StoreToAds does not make filmed or creator-style video.

Is 1080 x 1920 sharp enough?

Yes. Meta lists 1080 x 1080 pixels as the recommended minimum for Stories images, and our 1080 x 1920 file meets it on both sides.
