What the Reels placement takes
Meta's Ads Guide lists image specs for the Instagram Reels placement at 9:16 and 1080 x 1920, so a still ad can run there next to video. Meta asks you to keep the top, bottom and sides of a Reels ad free of key text and logos, and to leave the bottom 40% clear if your ad carries a disclaimer.
| Area | Rule of thumb | On 1080 x 1920 |
|---|---|---|
| Top | about 14% | about 270 px |
| Bottom | about 35% | about 670 px |
| Each side | about 6% | about 65 px |
What we make for Reels, and what we don't
Every ad comes as a still 1080 x 1920 image. On demand, any ad also becomes a 7-second MP4 in 9:16 and 4:5: the product, headline and price animate in within about four seconds, then hold.
Honest note: StoreToAds makes motion ads, not filmed video. There are no presenters, voiceovers, music or creator-style clips. If your Reels plan depends on creator video, use StoreToAds for the product and offer ads that run next to it.
Our 9:16 places the checked 4:5 design in the middle of the tall canvas, with 285 px bands above and below. Reels covers more of the bottom than that, so the last line of the design, often the button or the price, can sit near the caption. Check it with the Safe zone guardrail and shorten it in the editor if needed.
Design notes for a Reels ad
- Put the hook in the upper half: it is the line people read before deciding to swipe.
- Make the product big and central. Small products vanish at full screen.
- Assume the sound is off. Everything that matters has to be in the picture.
- Keep the price close to the product rather than at the very bottom.
