An alternative to The Brief for brands without a design team

The Brief (thebrief.ai) is a full creative platform: an Ad Studio, AI generation, animation, resizing and, on higher plans, ad serving across networks. It suits teams that design and run campaigns all day. If you are one product brand that needs a steady supply of ads with the right price on them, StoreToAds does that single job from your store link.

Checked against the sources listed at the end. We make StoreToAds, so read this as a competitor's comparison.

In short

Is there a simpler alternative to The Brief for a small brand?

Yes, if you would rather not design. The Brief is a full studio for teams, from $29 a month billed yearly. StoreToAds makes finished ads from your store link instead: your real product photo, checked prices and reviews, five sizes per ad, and new ads every Monday on weekly plans, with no editor to learn.

What The Brief is great at

The Brief's pricing page puts the whole Ad Studio, AI generation and export on every plan, with no credits to count. Its strengths are the ones a production team needs:

  • Design control. Magic Animator, 5,000+ templates, and import from Photoshop and Figma.
  • Every export format. JPG, PNG, WEBP, GIF, HTML5, MP4, PDF and AMP, unmetered.
  • Serving and publishing. On Ultra and Team: ad serving to 25+ networks, publishing to Meta and Google Ads, 100,000 impressions a month, A/B tests and AI translation.
  • Teams. Real-time co-editing on the Team plan, and brand kits on every plan.

If you run display campaigns, need HTML5 for an ad network, or design for clients, The Brief covers far more ground than StoreToAds does.

What reviewers report

The Brief's Trustpilot page carries Creatopy's history: 2.7 stars from 182 reviews on October 17, 2026, with the newest 20 dated October 2025 to May 2026. Many of those complain about credits, which today's plans no longer have (our Creatopy alternative page covers that period). The issue that keeps coming up after it is the file you download:

In our reading, 7 of those 20 reviews describe exports, previews or resizing that didn't match the design, and 4 praise it as easy or stable. The experiences are the reviewers' own.

Where StoreToAds is different

The Brief gives a skilled person more power. StoreToAds takes the routine ads off that person's desk, or does them for a brand that has no such person.

  • Your store is the brief. Products, prices, sale prices, ratings and review texts are read from the product page, so nobody types them into a canvas.
  • The numbers are checked. Every price, rating, review count and quote on an ad is matched against the store before delivery.
  • You pay per ad, not per seat. Starter is $49 a month for 20 new ads; weekly plans add 10, 20 or 30 ads every Monday. Edits and re-renders don't count against them.
  • Meta is part of the weekly plans. Ads can go to your Meta account as paused ads, so nothing spends until you publish.

Honest note: no HTML5, no ad serving, no co-editing and no Google Ads publishing. If any of those are on your list, stay with The Brief.

Who should not switch

  • Agencies and in-house teams producing campaigns for many brands.
  • Anyone who needs HTML5, AMP or animated GIF banners for display networks.
  • Teams that serve and A/B test ads from one platform.
  • Designers who want a layer-by-layer editor and template library.

How to switch from The Brief

  1. Export the files you still run. Every plan exports in all formats, so download what you need while the plan is active.
  2. Cancel in Manage Account. Open Manage Account, then Subscription, press Cancel subscription and confirm. You keep the plan until the period ends, then move to the Free plan.
  3. Mind the term. On yearly billing the plan runs to the end of the year you paid for; the terms say there are no refunds for unused time.
  4. Start StoreToAds with a product link. Paste it for 3 free ads and check whether they cover the routine ads you design today.
