What happens when you paste a link
- We check the link. It has to be a public web page; private addresses and logins are refused.
- We read the product data the platform publishes. Shopify's public product data, WooCommerce's Store API, the data Wix, Squarespace and PrestaShop put on their pages, or the schema.org product markup most stores publish for Google.
- We read the reviews. From the page and from the review apps on it: Okendo, Yotpo, Judge.me, Stamped, Loox and Reviews.io.
- A researcher looks around. It may open up to 8 more pages on the same site, such as a reviews or ingredients page, and keeps a fact only if its exact words are on a page it fetched.
- The engine plans the ads. It lists the facts worth an ad and gives each ad a different reason to buy.
- It designs around your photo, cut out and placed, never redrawn, then checks the layout and every number and quote against what it read.
Store link or product link?
| You paste | The ads are about | Use it when |
|---|---|---|
| One product page | That product | You have a hero product, a sale on one item, or a new launch |
| Your home page | A product the engine picks: one with a clear photo, a price and, ideally, reviews | You want to see what it chooses, or you sell many similar items |
| An Amazon or Etsy listing | That listing only (amazon.com /dp/ links, etsy.com /listing/ links) | You sell on a marketplace; we never search a brand's other listings |
Gift cards, samples and items without a price are skipped. If a product has variants, the price shown is the one the store lists for it, and a compare-at price becomes a real price-drop ad only when the store sets one.
What we read on each platform
| Platform | What the reader gets | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| Shopify | Products, prices, compare-at prices, variants, photos, tags | When a store limits automatic reading, Shopify's public catalog is the fallback |
| WooCommerce | Prices and sale prices, photos, rating, review count and review texts | Read from the shop's public Store API |
| Wix | List, sale and compare-at prices and the full photo gallery | From the product page's own data |
| Squarespace | The catalog and each product's details | A sale price only when the item is marked on sale |
| PrestaShop | Product data and its reviews | An average rating only when every review can be read |
| Amazon and Etsy | The listing's title, price, photos, rating and reviews | Only the listing you paste |
| Any other store | Name, price, photos and reviews from standard product markup | Works on BigCommerce, Shopware and most custom builds |
When a store blocks us
Some stores turn away automated visitors, including some large Shopify stores. Here is what happens, in order:
- We try again a little later if the store only asked us to slow down.
- We read the same pages another way, through a page-fetching service, which gets most blocked stores open. A few, with strict bot walls, still refuse.
- If the home page fails, paste one product page. It often works when the store's catalog is locked.
- If nothing gets through, a paid plan can still make ads from that product: upload screenshots of the product page and we fill in the name, price, description and features from them, with nothing invented, or type the details in. You check them before any ad uses them. The free preview needs a readable link.
Honest note: a password-protected store (a store that isn't open yet) can't be read from a link at all. Use screenshots or type the product in.
A real run: one product link to finished ads
Gilt Harbor is a fictional jewelry store we made to show the engine at work. A made-up shop has no website, so its product page was handed to the engine as data in the same shape our readers produce from a real link. Everything after that point is the live engine.
| What the reader returned | Value |
|---|---|
| Product | Everyday Huggie Hoops, 18k Gold Vermeil |
| Price | $58, compare-at $72 |
| Rating | 4.9 from 1,042 reviews |
| Review texts | 4, such as "Sensitive ears and zero irritation. Finally." |
| Details | 12 mm, 3 mm wide, hinged click closure, hypoallergenic and nickel-free, shower and swim safe |
| Store offers | Free shipping and free returns; 1-year warranty |
| Photos | A packshot and a lifestyle photo |
From that, the engine planned ads on different reasons to buy (durability, social proof, the real $14 saving, craft), designed each around the real photo, and checked them. The facts the check matched are listed under each ad below. The $14 saving appears only next to the $72 compare-at price that backs it, and reviews are quoted word for word.
What a link can't tell us
- Offers that live only in your head or your email list. Type them into Your brief and they become facts the check accepts.
- Claims you don't want made. Add them to Never say, and they stay out of every ad.
- Reviews held by an app we don't read yet. You'll get fewer review ads, not invented ones.
- Social profiles. An Instagram or TikTok link isn't a product page; paste the store instead.
