bag ad prompt

Bag ad prompts, tested on one waxed canvas tote

A tote is a big, simple shape, and the details that sell it are small: the colour of the leather, the patch, the rivets, how much it holds. We ran five common bag ad prompts for Wexmoor Goods, a fictional brand, in the image models behind ChatGPT and Gemini and a Midjourney-style keyword prompt, and compared each tote with the packshot.

Updated · Every prompt ran once on October 17, 2026, for a fictional brand. Nothing was retried or cherry-picked.

In short

What is a good AI prompt for a bag ad?

Attach a photo of the real bag and name the parts that can't change: canvas colour, leather colour, hardware and the patch. Give the size and capacity exactly as your page states them, quote the text, and describe the scene. Without the photo, our runs darkened the leather or blurred the patch.

Wexmoor's product page: The Everyday Tote in olive waxed canvas, $98 (was $120); 18 oz waxed cotton canvas that sheds rain and gets better with age; full-grain leather handles and corners; solid brass rivets; an interior zip pocket and a padded sleeve for a 15-inch laptop; 16 x 13 x 5 in; handmade in small batches; lifetime warranty; rated 4.8 from 1,276 reviews. A to C had no photo; D and E had the packshot shown here.

  1. AI output for the first prompt: an olive waxed canvas tote with dark brown leather handles and corners on a wet city street at night, beside Wexmoor Goods, The Everyday Tote, five spec lines, $98 was $120 and a Shop now button.
Made with GPT-5.4 Image 2 (OpenAI, through the OpenRouter API), October 17, 2026, for a fictional brand.

    Prompt AChatGPT-style prompt, no photo

    The ChatGPT rainy street prompt

A moody city scene with the full spec list is how most owners first ask ChatGPT for a premium bag ad.

    The prompt, word for word

Create a premium Instagram ad for my bag brand WEXMOOR GOODS. Product: The Everyday Tote in olive waxed canvas, full-grain leather handles and corners, brass rivets, padded 15-inch laptop sleeve, 16 x 13 x 5 in, lifetime warranty. Price $98 (was $120). Show the tote in a rainy city street. Include the brand name, product name, price and a "Shop now" button.

    What went right

    • Every spec is right: olive waxed canvas, full-grain leather, padded 15-inch laptop sleeve, 16 x 13 x 5 in, lifetime warranty, $98 was $120.
    • The rainy street suits a waxed canvas bag, and the wet canvas texture looks real.

    What went wrong

    • The leather is dark chocolate brown. Wexmoor's handles and corners are a light tan, the contrast the bag is known by.
    • The leather patch is a blur; the brand name on it can't be read.

Could you run it? A convincing tote in the wrong leather. Customers buy colourways on exactly this detail.

  2. AI output for the second prompt: a smiling woman holding a coffee cup in a busy café with an olive tote over her shoulder, under the headline Your perfect daily companion, built for life's adventures, with three benefits, the rating and $98.
Made with Nano Banana 2 (Gemini 3.1 Flash Image) (Google, through the OpenRouter API), October 17, 2026, for a fictional brand.

    Prompt BGemini-style prompt, no photo

    The Gemini café lifestyle prompt

A woman carrying the bag somewhere nice, plus a headline and benefits written for you: the standard lifestyle request.

    The prompt, word for word

Generate a bag advertisement for Wexmoor Goods The Everyday Tote ($98). Olive green waxed canvas tote with brown leather handles and a small leather patch. Show a woman carrying it over her shoulder in a café. Write a catchy headline and three benefits, add "4.8 stars from 1,276 reviews" and the price. Warm, rugged, premium look.

    What went right

    • The rating and price are as given, and two benefits match the page: water-resistant waxed canvas and full-grain handles with rivets.
    • The café scene is busy without hiding the bag.

    What went wrong

    • A benefit calls the tote "spacious & organized". It has one zip pocket and a laptop sleeve, not an organiser interior.
    • The patch is too blurred to read, and the tote looks smaller than 16 x 13 in on her.
    • The headline, about a daily companion for life's adventures, would fit any bag.

Could you run it? Pleasant and generic, with one benefit that oversells. Fine as a mood reference, not as the ad.

  3. AI output for the third prompt: an olive tote with tan leather handles and corners, rain beading on the canvas, standing on wet cobblestones, with a leather patch reading Wexmoor above a line of garbled small text.
Made with FLUX.2 Pro (Black Forest Labs, through Higgsfield), October 17, 2026, for a fictional brand.

Prompt CMidjourney-style keyword prompt, no photo

    The Midjourney-style raindrop prompt

Raindrops beading on canvas is the shot every waxed-goods keyword prompt tries for.

    The prompt, word for word

    What went right

    • Tan leather and brass rivets are right this time, and WEXMOOR is readable on the patch.
    • The beading rain is a strong, specific detail for a waxed canvas bag.

    What went wrong

    • The line under WEXMOOR on the patch is garbled letters.
    • The handle attachments and proportions differ from the packshot, and there's no price or headline.

Could you run it? The best mood photo of the three no-photo runs. You'd blur or crop the patch and still need to add the ad.

  4. AI output for the fourth prompt: Wexmoor's olive tote with tan handles, corners and a leather patch standing on a wet stone step with raindrops on the canvas, under the headline Rain rolls off. It only gets better., with $98 (was $120) and Lifetime warranty.
Made with GPT Image 2.5 (OpenAI, through Higgsfield), October 17, 2026, for a fictional brand.

Prompt DChatGPT-style prompt with the product photo

    ChatGPT with the tote photo

Attaching the packshot and asking for a scene and text is the edit flow OpenAI's help pages describe.

    The prompt, word for word

Here is my product photo. Turn it into an Instagram ad for my bag brand Wexmoor Goods. Put the tote on a wet stone step with a few raindrops on the canvas, overcast light. Keep the bag, the handles and the leather patch exactly as they are. Add the headline "Rain rolls off. It only gets better.", the price "$98 (was $120)" and "Lifetime warranty".

    What went right

    • Canvas, handles, rivets, corners and patch match the packshot closely.
    • Headline, prices and the warranty line are word for word.
    • The raindrops sit on the canvas the way waxed cotton actually beads.

    What went wrong

    • The leather reads a little more orange than in the photo; compare the two on the same screen.

Could you run it? Ready to use after a colour check. The photo held the bag; the prompt held the facts.

  5. AI output for the fifth prompt: a woman in a cream knit sweater walking with the olive Wexmoor tote held by its tan handles, a laptop and a leather notebook showing at the top, under a band reading The Everyday Tote, $98.
Made with Nano Banana Pro (Gemini 3 Pro Image) (Google, through Higgsfield), October 17, 2026, for a fictional brand.

Prompt EGemini-style prompt with the product photo

    Gemini with the tote photo

Showing the bag carried, with what fits inside, is the lifestyle frame owners most want from a packshot.

    The prompt, word for word

Use this exact tote bag. Show a woman's hand holding it by the leather handles while she walks, a laptop and a notebook peeking out. Do not change the bag's color, shape, handles or patch. Add the text "The Everyday Tote, $98" at the top.

    What went right

    • The tote keeps its colour, shape, tan leather and patch.
    • The laptop and notebook show capacity without a word of copy, and the hand on the handles looks natural.

    What went wrong

    • The text sits in a band above the photo rather than on it.

Could you run it? A useful carry shot. Check the patch at full size and move the line onto the image if you want a feed ad.

What the five runs show for bags

Bags were one of the kinder categories: every run drew an olive tote that could pass at a glance. The differences were in the trim. Without a photo, the ChatGPT run went to dark brown leather, the Gemini run blurred the patch and stretched the capacity, and the keyword run garbled the patch's small print.

With the packshot attached, both models kept the bag, and Nano Banana Pro's carry shot showed what fits inside better than a spec line does. Colour still needs a check: GPT Image 2.5 warmed the leather slightly.

If you're writing the copy yourself, our bag ad ideas page has lines built on facts like the 18 oz canvas and the lifetime warranty.

  1. 01

    The weather-proof hero

For bags whose material is the selling point.

Use the attached photo of my [BAG] exactly as it is: body colour, leather colour, hardware, stitching and the patch or logo must not change. Place it [SCENE THAT SHOWS THE MATERIAL, e.g. on a wet stone step with raindrops on the canvas]. Add only: headline "[MATERIAL FACT FROM MY PAGE]", price "[PRICE]". Portrait 4:5.
  2. 02

    The what-fits shot

    To show capacity honestly.

Keep the attached bag unchanged. Show it carried by one person, with [ITEMS THAT REALLY FIT, e.g. a 15-inch laptop and a notebook] visible at the top. The bag measures [DIMENSIONS] and must look that size on the body. Natural hands with five fingers. No text.
  3. 03

    The detail callouts

When hardware and materials justify the price.

Keep the attached photo unchanged in the centre. Add four labels with thin lines to the parts, each copied from my page: "[MATERIAL]", "[HANDLES]", "[HARDWARE]", "[DIMENSIONS]". Price "[PRICE]" at the bottom. Nothing else.
  4. 04

    The sale ad

    For a real, current markdown.

Use the attached bag photo unchanged on a [COLOUR] background. Add only "[SALE PRICE]" large, "[ORIGINAL PRICE]" struck through, and "[WARRANTY OR SHIPPING LINE FROM MY PAGE]". No countdown or urgency words.
  5. 05

    The trim check

    Before you download.

Compare the bag in your image with my photo: body colour, leather colour, hardware, stitching and the patch text. List every difference and any words in the image I didn't give you, then make a corrected version that changes nothing else.

Tips for each tool, for bags

ChatGPT

  • Attach the packshot. From words alone our run picked dark brown leather; with the photo it kept the tan, slightly warmed.
  • Name the hardware and patch as things that can't change. Small brand marks are what models simplify first.
  • Ask for the Pinterest 2:3 and Stories 9:16 versions as separate images and check the leather colour in each.

Gemini

  • Carry shots work well: our Nano Banana Pro run kept the bag and showed a laptop inside. Name the real items that fit.
  • Give the dimensions so the bag doesn't shrink on the body, as it did in our café run.
  • If you let it write benefits, cut any you can't point to on your page; ours called one pocket "organized".

Midjourney-style tools

  • Specific material words ("raindrops beading on the canvas") pay off. Our keyword run got the leather colour right because the prompt named it.
  • Patches and small labels come back with invented letters. Crop or retouch them, or keep the render as a background.
  • Midjourney reads --ar and --style raw at the end of the prompt; other tools don't.

Questions about bag ad prompts

What is a good slogan for a handbag?

One that says what the bag does or is made of, in a few words: "Rain rolls off. It only gets better." or "Built to carry everything." Lines like "your perfect daily companion" describe every bag ever sold.

What are some good advertising words for bags?

Concrete ones: the material and its weight (18 oz waxed canvas), the leather type, the hardware, what fits (a 15-inch laptop), the dimensions, the warranty. Shoppers compare bags on these, so each word earns its place.

What is the best caption for selling bags on Facebook?

A caption that answers the buyer's first question: will it fit my things and will it last? Name what fits, the material and the warranty, then the price. A customer's line about using it daily works well as the opening.

Can ChatGPT make a bag ad?

Yes. From a description, GPT-5.4 Image 2 made a premium ad with every spec right and the leather in the wrong colour. With the packshot attached, GPT Image 2.5 kept the tote, trim and patch. Check colour on the same screen as your photo.

Why did the AI change my bag's leather colour?

"Leather" in an image model's training mostly means mid to dark brown, so without a photo or a precise colour word it drifts there. A photo fixes it; naming the colour (tan, cognac) helps when you can't attach one.

Can AI show a model carrying my bag?

Yes. Our Nano Banana Pro run turned one packshot into a natural carry shot with a laptop inside. Give the bag's dimensions so it stays the right size on the body, and check the patch and hardware at full size.

Is ChatGPT or Gemini better for bag ads?

With the photo, both kept the tote in our single runs; ChatGPT's leather came out a touch warmer, Gemini's text sat in a band. Without the photo, ChatGPT changed the leather and Gemini overstated the pockets. Try both with your own bag.

How should I photograph a bag for AI tools?

Straight on, handles up, on a plain background, with even light so the true colour of the body and leather shows. Add a second photo of the inside if pockets matter. The tools work from what they see.

How do I advertise bags?

Show capacity, material and hardware up close, use carry shots for scale, and let reviews talk about daily use and wear. Our guide to advertising bags covers channels and a first budget.
