What a catalog price badge shows
A badge can show any of these, and you choose which:
- The price, written in your store's currency.
- The was price, only when your store shows a real compare-at price.
- The % off, rounded down, only on a real discount.
- A free shipping line, only if you turn it on (optionally above a price you set). We never guess it.
You also pick the corner, the badge color, the % off color, the font and a rounded or square shape. The app shows a live preview on example products before anything reaches your feed.
How the badges get into your Meta catalog
Meta lets a catalog take a supplementary feed: a second data source that updates fields of items you already have. Ours updates one field, the image link, for each product. Your primary feed (Shopify's channel, a feed app or your own file) keeps the prices, titles and stock.
- Turn on catalog badges in StoreToAds and copy your private feed link.
- In Meta Commerce Manager, open the catalog your ads use, then Data sources, then add Supplementary data as a scheduled feed.
- Paste the link, choose hourly updates and pick your primary feed to supplement.
- Check Catalog, then Items: after Meta's first fetch, product images show the badge.
Honest note: the content IDs in the feed must match the IDs in your Meta catalog exactly. The app lets you pick the format your catalog uses (Shopify's Facebook & Instagram channel, other Shopify feed apps, WooCommerce, SKU or product ID) and check one ID before you start.
How badges stay in step with your prices
Your store is read once a day; with the Shopify app (coming soon) price changes arrive within minutes. A badge is drawn again whenever the price, the was price, the photo or your badge style changes, and every new badge gets a new image link, so Meta never shows a cached old one.
If a product's price changed and its new badge isn't ready yet, that product leaves the feed and Meta shows its plain photo. If we can't read your store for 3 days, the feed empties itself, so a stale price never runs.
What it costs
Free on every account for up to 100 products. Paid plans cover up to 2,000 products. There is no AI involved in drawing a badge, so there are no credits to spend.
