What happened to Icon AI
Icon's homepage and pricing page now open with this line: "Icon originally launched as The AI Admaker. Today, we make 6 Human UGC for $1000 (no AI / 100% real)." The page title reads "The Agency", and icon.me now forwards to icon.com.
Icon doesn't give a date for the change on its site. A reply from Icon on a Trustpilot review, posted in June 2026, gives the reason in its own words: "the AI toolset we built in 2025 wasn't capable of consistently meeting quality standards. We now work with real human creators."
Its software, now called Admaker 2.0, is described as a tool that "helps our creative team make better ads" and lets your team review, launch and analyze the human UGC ads, including launching them to Meta in one click.
What Icon is great at today
From Icon's pricing page on October 17, 2026:
- Real creators, not avatars. Six human UGC ads a month from two creators, three ads each.
- Scripts before money. Icon says you review six scripts before paying, with a reminder at 48 hours and the $1,000 charge at 72 hours.
- Unlimited human revisions, and full usage rights to the final ads, raw footage and B-roll.
- A money-back promise. Icon offers a full refund if you don't love your ads.
Delivery takes 12 to 16 days after the creators receive your product. For a brand whose best ads are people using the product on camera, that is a real service at an agency price.
What reviewers complained about
Most public complaints we found date from 2025, when Icon still sold AI ads. We coded 8 complaints from 7 public reviews and posts (plus one reply from Icon). They are a useful checklist for any AI ad tool.
| Theme | How often | What reviewers describe |
|---|---|---|
| AI ads that weren't usable | 3 of 8 | Generic options, results not good enough to run |
| Charges after cancelling or plan changes | 2 of 8 | A charge after cancelling within the trial; an automatic upgrade to a bigger plan |
| Hard to cancel | 1 of 8 | Cancelling through a chat channel and a multi-step flow |
| Product data mixed up | 1 of 8 | Details the user entered coming back wrong |
| Support after paying for human UGC | 1 of 8 | No replies after a $1,000 order (October 2026) |
“the tool keeps mixing up data you input and comes up with outputs that are not really usable for ads”
Trustpilot, 1-star review, Sep 6, 2025“I literally had to join their Slack channel just to cancel our subscription”
Trustpilot, 1-star review, Jun 27, 2025“it auto upgraded me from $39 to a team plan for $249/month.”
Trustpilot, 1-star review, Nov 11, 2025
The newest complaint is about the agency: in October 2026 one reviewer wrote that after paying $1,000 for six UGC videos their emails went unanswered. One review is not a pattern, but it's worth knowing before a $1,000 monthly commitment.

Where StoreToAds is different
StoreToAds is the AI part of what Icon used to sell, built around one rule: the AI never draws your product or invents a fact. It reads your product page, plans ads around different reasons to buy, designs each one around your real photo and checks every price, rating and quote before you see it. Mixed-up product data, one of the complaints above, is exactly the failure that check exists to stop.
It's also a different size of commitment. Twenty static ads a month cost $49, and the first three cost nothing. That doesn't replace a creator holding your product. It gives you a weekly supply of statics to test angles while video work happens elsewhere.

Honest note: no human creators, no UGC and no video beyond a 7-second motion version. If you want real people, an agency like Icon's is the kind of service to look at.
Who should not switch
- You want real people on camera. That's Icon's whole offer now.
- You have $1,000 a month for creative and want someone else to handle scripts, creators and revisions.
- You need raw footage and B-roll for other edits.
How to leave Icon, or add static ads next to it
- Download everything. Icon says the final ads, raw footage and B-roll are yours, so save all of it.
- Ask to cancel in writing. We couldn't find published cancellation steps on Icon's site on October 17, 2026. Message their team, ask for the date the plan ends, and keep the reply.
- Mind the 72-hour line on a new order. Icon's pricing page says you get a reminder at 48 hours and are charged $1,000 at 72 hours.
- Use the guarantee if it applies. Icon advertises a full refund if you don't love your ads; ask before the next charge.
- Add statics from your store. Paste your store link into StoreToAds for 3 free ads.
