# Home decor ad prompts, tested on one handmade vase

Source: https://storetoads.com/ad-prompts/home-decor/

Decor is the category where AI room scenes shine, so it's tempting to let a prompt do the whole ad. We ran five home decor ad prompts for Hollowfern, a fictional studio selling a hand-thrown stoneware vase, through the models behind ChatGPT and Gemini and a Midjourney-style keyword prompt. The rooms were lovely. One prompt read the product's name, Ripple, and drew a different vase.

*Updated October 17, 2026. Every prompt ran once on October 17, 2026, for a fictional brand. Nothing was retried or cherry-picked.*

## How do you prompt AI for a home decor ad?

Attach a photo of your actual piece and say its shape, glaze and size stay as they are, then describe the room around it and give any text word for word. From a name and a description, one of our runs drew a tall fluted vase for a round one; from the photo, both models kept it.

## The five prompts, run for real

Hollowfern · Ripple Ceramic Vase, Large, Speckled Oat · $64 · 4.9 from 527 reviews · fictional

Hollowfern's product page: Ripple Ceramic Vase, Large, Speckled Oat, $64; hand-thrown stoneware with a rippled body and a speckled oat glaze, each piece one of a kind; 10 in tall, 6 in wide, watertight for fresh flowers; made by a small pottery studio in Portugal; rated 4.9 from 527 reviews. A to C had only those words. D and E had the vase photo shown here attached.

![Hollowfern's product photo: Ripple Ceramic Vase, Large, Speckled Oat, the packshot attached to prompts D and E.](https://storetoads.com/samples/hollowfern.webp)

### Prompt A: The ChatGPT living room poster

*ChatGPT-style prompt, no photo.* Product, size, glaze, "bright Scandinavian living room" and a Shop now button: the usual decor prompt typed into ChatGPT.

> Create an Instagram ad for my home decor brand HOLLOWFERN. Product: Ripple Ceramic Vase, large, speckled oat glaze, hand-thrown stoneware, 10 in tall and 6 in wide, watertight, made in a small studio in Portugal, $64. Show the vase with dried pampas grass in a bright Scandinavian living room. Include the brand name, product name, price and a "Shop now" button.

![AI output for the first prompt: a tall, wavy, fluted speckled vase holding pampas grass on an oak table in a bright living room, beside books whose spines include a real magazine's title, with Hollowfern Ripple Ceramic Vase, the size, $64, a Shop now button and three badges.](https://storetoads.com/prompts/home-decor/A.webp)

*Made with GPT-5.4 Image 2 (OpenAI, through the OpenRouter API), October 17, 2026, for a fictional brand.*

Product invented · Text errors: 0 · Unasked details: 1

**What went right**

- Every fact we typed is on it, spelled right: hand-thrown stoneware, speckled oat glaze, 10" tall × 6" wide, $64.
- The room is bright and calm, and the layout is ready to post.

**What went wrong**

- The vase is a different object. It took "Ripple" literally and drew a tall vase with deep vertical flutes; Hollowfern's is round and squat with a narrow neck and soft throwing lines.
- One of the books stacked on the sideboard carries a real magazine's title: another company's mark, placed in your ad without anyone asking for it.

**Could you run it?** A buyer would order a round vase thinking they were getting this one. For a one-of-a-kind piece, that's the worst kind of wrong.

### Prompt B: The Gemini "organic elegance" prompt

*Gemini-style prompt, no photo.* Describing the piece and asking for a headline plus three benefits is how most decor sellers use Gemini's image tool.

> Generate a home decor advertisement for the Hollowfern Ripple Ceramic Vase ($64). Round speckled oat stoneware vase with a small neck, holding olive branches on an oak sideboard. Write a catchy headline and three benefits, add "4.9 stars from 527 reviews" and the price. Calm, earthy, premium interior look.

![AI output for the second prompt: a round speckled vase with ridged rings holding olive branches on an oak sideboard in a beige living room, under the headline Elevate your space with organic elegance., with three benefits, the price and 4.9 stars from 527 reviews.](https://storetoads.com/prompts/home-decor/B.webp)

*Made with Nano Banana 2 (Gemini 3.1 Flash Image) (Google, through the OpenRouter API), October 17, 2026, for a fictional brand.*

Product changed · Text errors: 0 · Unasked details: 0

**What went right**

- Described as round with a small neck, the vase came out round with a small neck.
- The benefits stay close to the brief: speckled glaze, round form, an opening that suits branches. Price and rating are exact.

**What went wrong**

- Its ridges are deep, regular rings, not the real vase's soft, uneven throwing lines.
- "Elevate your space with organic elegance" is the headline every decor ad already has.

**Could you run it?** The most usable of the three no-photo runs, because the prompt spelled out the shape. It's still a cousin of the vase, not the vase.

### Prompt C: The Midjourney-style wabi-sabi prompt

*Midjourney-style keyword prompt, no photo.* Interior keyword prompts ("travertine plinth, limewashed wall, wabi-sabi") are a staple of decor prompt collections.

> interior product photography, hand-thrown round stoneware vase with narrow neck, speckled oat cream glaze, subtle throwing ripples, olive branch, travertine plinth, warm limewashed wall, soft afternoon window light, minimalist, wabi-sabi, photorealistic, 8k --ar 4:5 --style raw --v 7

![AI output for the third prompt: a round speckled stoneware vase with a narrow neck and an olive branch on a travertine plinth against a warm limewashed wall, with no text.](https://storetoads.com/prompts/home-decor/C.webp)

*Made with FLUX.2 Pro (Black Forest Labs, through Higgsfield), October 17, 2026, for a fictional brand.*

Product changed · Text errors: 0 · Unasked details: 0

**What went right**

- Shape, glaze and speckles land close to the real vase, and the plinth and wall make a gallery-quality shot.
- Nothing was added that the prompt didn't ask for.

**What went wrong**

- The throwing lines are more regular and the neck flares differently, so it reads as a similar vase rather than this one.
- It's a photograph with no price or name, which a keyword prompt never makes.

**Could you run it?** A beautiful styling reference. Use it to brief your own photo, not as the ad.

### Prompt D: ChatGPT with the vase photo

*ChatGPT-style prompt with the product photo.* Attaching the product shot and asking for a room around it is the edit OpenAI's help pages describe, and the fix for a piece no description captures.

> Here is my product photo. Turn it into an Instagram ad for my home decor brand Hollowfern. Put the vase on a walnut console with a few stems of olive, soft afternoon light. Keep the vase's shape and glaze exactly as they are. Add the headline "Hand-thrown in Portugal. No two alike.", "10 in tall" and the price $64.

![AI output for the fourth prompt: Hollowfern's round speckled vase with its soft throwing lines on a walnut console holding olive stems, under the headline Hand-thrown in Portugal. No two alike., with 10 in tall and $64.](https://storetoads.com/prompts/home-decor/D.webp)

*Made with GPT Image 2.5 (OpenAI, through Higgsfield), October 17, 2026, for a fictional brand.*

Product kept · Text errors: 0 · Unasked details: 0

**What went right**

- This is the vase: round body, narrow neck, soft throwing lines, oat glaze and speckles as photographed.
- Headline, size and price are word for word, and the olive stems suit the piece.

**What went wrong**

- Nothing visible at ad size. As with any regenerated image, put it beside your photo and compare the speckle pattern before you rely on it.

**Could you run it?** Ready to run. The one-of-a-kind line is honest only because the vase shown is the real one.

### Prompt E: Gemini with the vase photo, in a bedroom

*Gemini-style prompt with the product photo.* Moving a decor piece into a styled room is the most common "product photo Nano Banana prompt" for this category.

> Use this exact vase. Show it on a bedside table with a stack of books and a linen lamp, morning light through the curtains. Do not change the vase's shape, glaze or speckles. Add the text "Ripple Vase, $64" at the top.

![AI output for the fifth prompt: Hollowfern's speckled vase on a wooden bedside table next to a linen lamp and a stack of books, morning light through sheer curtains, under the line Ripple Vase, $64.](https://storetoads.com/prompts/home-decor/E.webp)

*Made with Nano Banana Pro (Gemini 3 Pro Image) (Google, through Higgsfield), October 17, 2026, for a fictional brand.*

Product kept · Text errors: 0 · Unasked details: 0

**What went right**

- The vase keeps its shape, glaze and speckles, and sits at a believable size next to the lamp.
- The morning light through the curtains is exactly the calm the brand sells.

**What went wrong**

- The book spines carry blurred, unreadable lettering. Harmless here, but look closely at any titles before posting.

**Could you run it?** A strong lifestyle frame for Pinterest or a Story, once you've checked the spines.

## What the vase runs show

Room scenes are where these models are at their strongest, and every run produced a room you'd happily post. The product is where they diverge: the no-photo runs gave a fluted vase, a ridged cousin and a close relative, depending on how much shape the prompt described.

A product name is a trap. "Ripple" told one model what the vase should look like, and it drew ripples. Words describe a category; only your photo describes the piece.

Both photo runs kept the vase, and both are worth using. Handmade sellers have one extra job: if every piece differs, say so in the ad, and make sure the one shown is real. Lines and angles for that are on our [home decor ad ideas](https://storetoads.com/ad-ideas/home-decor/) page, and channels and budget in the [guide to advertising home decor](https://storetoads.com/how-to-advertise/home-decor/).

## The same vase, made by our engine

Built from Hollowfern's product page: the engine read the size, glaze, origin, price and reviews, placed the vase photo as it is, and checked each fact before the ad went out.

### Hollowfern: Made by hand. Meant to last.

![Cream Hollowfern ad: 'Made by hand. Meant to last.' with a photo of a speckled oat ripple vase. Callouts read Watertight, Speckled oat glaze, Rippled body and 10 in tall, 6 in wide. Also 4.9 from 527 reviews and a 'Shop the Ripple Vase · $64' button.](https://storetoads.com/samples/ads/hollowfern-06.webp)

*Fictional sample brand, made by our engine. Format: Annotated hero. Reason to buy: Craft.*

Four callouts from the page around the real vase: watertight, speckled oat glaze, rippled hand-thrown body, 10 in by 6 in. "Rippled" sits next to the actual ripples, not a model's idea of them.

Store facts used: $64, 4.9 from 527 reviews, free shipping over $75, hand-thrown, watertight, speckled oat glaze, 10 in tall, 6 in wide.

Matched by the fact check: $75, $64, 4.9 rating, 527 reviews, free shipping.

### Hollowfern: “Even more beautiful in person.”

![Dark green Hollowfern ad: '“Even more beautiful in person.”' under five gold stars, credited to Clara D., verified buyer. A speckled oat ceramic vase sits in an arched frame, with a 4.9 from 527 reviews pill and a 'See why it's loved' button.](https://storetoads.com/samples/ads/hollowfern-03.webp)

*Fictional sample brand, made by our engine. Format: Review card. Reason to buy: Social proof.*

A customer's verbatim review leads, with the studio in Portugal from the page. The vase is the photographed piece, which is what "one of a kind" needs.

Store facts used: Quoted review from Clara D., verified buyer, 5 stars, 4.9 rating, 527 reviews, hand-glazed in Portugal, speckled glaze.

Matched by the fact check: 4.9 rating, 527 reviews, 1 review quote, word for word.

### Hollowfern: Read this before you buy another vase.

![Warm beige Hollowfern ad: 'Read this before you buy another vase.' with a note reading 'three things worth checking', a checklist (hand-thrown stoneware, watertight, speckled glaze), a speckled oat vase on a green arch, 4.9 from 527 reviews and a 'Shop the Ripple Vase · $64' button.](https://storetoads.com/samples/ads/hollowfern-02.webp)

*Fictional sample brand, made by our engine. Format: Read this first. Reason to buy: Craft.*

A checklist ad: hand-thrown stoneware, watertight, a glaze that varies piece to piece. Each tick is a line the store wrote, and nothing was added.

Store facts used: Hand-thrown stoneware, watertight for fresh flowers, speckled glaze one of a kind, $64, 4.9 from 527 reviews.

Matched by the fact check: $64, 4.9 rating, 527 reviews.

## A home decor prompt pack that starts from your piece

Attach a photo of the exact piece, shot on a plain background in soft daylight, and paste these into ChatGPT or Gemini. Fill the brackets from your product page, word for word.

### 1. The room ad

When the piece sells by how it looks at home.

```
Use the attached photo of my [PIECE] exactly as it is: shape, glaze or finish, texture and colour unchanged. Place it on [FURNITURE] in [ROOM AND LIGHT], at its real size of [DIMENSIONS]. Any books or objects in the room must have no readable titles or logos. Add only: headline "[A FACT FROM MY PAGE]", price "[PRICE]". Portrait 4:5.
```

### 2. The handmade ad

For pieces that vary one to the next.

```
Keep my attached piece photo unchanged on a plain [COLOUR] background with soft shadow. Add only this text: "[MAKING FACT, e.g. hand-thrown in WHERE]" and "[VARIATION LINE FROM MY PAGE]" and "[PRICE]". Do not add badges or extra words.
```

### 3. The Pinterest pin

Decor buyers plan on Pinterest.

```
Use the attached photo of my [PIECE] without changing it. Make a tall 2:3 image: the piece in [STYLED SETTING] in the lower two thirds, and at the top the words "[SHORT TITLE]" and "[DIMENSIONS] · [PRICE]". No other text.
```

### 4. The likeness check

After every image.

```
Put the piece in your image next to my photo and list every difference in silhouette, proportions, neck or rim, texture, colour and speckle or grain. List any words or titles anywhere in the scene. Then correct the piece and remove the words, changing nothing else.
```

## Tips for each tool, for home decor

### ChatGPT

- Attach the piece and name what must not change, from silhouette to glaze. Our photo run kept the vase faithfully.
- Ask for "objects without titles or logos": a no-photo run put a real magazine's name on the sideboard.
- Give the real dimensions in the prompt so the scene is built around the right scale.

### Gemini

- Upload the piece and describe only the room; Google's help page covers editing an uploaded photo this way.
- Spell out the shape when you have no photo: "round, small neck" got Gemini much closer than a product name would.
- Zoom into book spines and posters in the scene; ours were blurred, and blurred can become legible in the next run.

### Midjourney-style tools

- Interior keyword prompts make excellent styling boards. Use them to plan your own photoshoot.
- Avoid product names in keyword prompts: they're read as descriptions, the way Ripple became flutes.
- The --ar flag sets the shape in Midjourney only, per its docs. For a 2:3 pin elsewhere, ask in words or crop.

## Questions about home decor ad prompts

**Can ChatGPT make a home decor ad?**

It makes convincing rooms and sets your text cleanly. Asked from a description, it drew a different vase; with the photo attached, it kept ours exactly. For decor, the photo is not optional.

**Why did the AI change the shape of my vase?**

It had never seen it. The product name Ripple read like a description, so the model drew a fluted vase. Image models build the object from your words, and words describe a category, not a piece.

**Can AI put my product in a styled room?**

Yes, and this is what it does well. Both runs that started from our vase photo produced rooms we'd use, with the vase intact. Check scale against the real dimensions and read any titles in the scene.

**What are some good home decor ideas on Pinterest?**

Pins that show the piece in a real room, at a size you can judge, with the dimensions and price in text. Pinterest uses tall 2:3 images, so make that size from the start rather than cropping a square.

**How do I advertise handmade pieces that each look different?**

Show a real piece and say plainly that every one varies, with the reason (hand-thrown, hand-glazed). Never show an AI-drawn version of the piece, because the buyer will compare what arrives with the ad.

**Is Gemini or ChatGPT better for decor ads?**

Both kept our vase when we attached the photo, and both made good rooms. Without a photo, the Gemini run came closer because the prompt described the shape. One run each, so try both with your own piece.

**Why are there real brand names in my AI room scene?**

Models learned from photos of real interiors, so books, prints and boxes often come back with real titles. One of our runs put a real magazine's title on the sideboard. Ask for objects without titles or logos and check before you post.

**Do I need a professional photo of my decor for AI tools?**

A clean one, yes: plain background, soft daylight, the whole piece in focus. Every edit starts from it, and in our runs the photo-based versions were the only ones that showed the real vase.

**How should a small decor brand start advertising?**

Lead with the piece in a room, the size and the making story, prove it with reviews, and use Pinterest alongside Meta. Our guide to advertising home decor covers channels and a first budget.
