# Coffee ad prompts, tested on one bag of light roast

Source: https://storetoads.com/ad-prompts/coffee/

Specialty coffee is bought on details: origin, process, roast date, tasting notes. We ran five coffee ad prompts for Halden, a fictional roaster, through the models behind ChatGPT and Gemini and a Midjourney-style keyword prompt. The cafés and pour-overs looked great. When one model was allowed to write its own copy, it changed the tasting notes and printed the wrong process on the bag.

*Updated October 17, 2026. Every prompt ran once on October 17, 2026, for a fictional brand. Nothing was retried or cherry-picked.*

## How do you write an AI prompt for a coffee ad?

Attach your bag photo and say the bag, valve and label must not change. Give the origin, process, roast and tasting notes exactly as your page lists them, inside quotes, and forbid any other text. One of our runs, left to write benefits, swapped peach and honey for blueberry and bergamot.

## The five prompts, run for real

Halden · Ethiopia Guji, Light Roast · $21 · 4.9 from 612 reviews · fictional

Halden's product page: Ethiopia Guji, Light Roast, $21; single-origin washed coffee from the Guji zone; tasting notes jasmine, peach and honey; roasted to order every Monday and shipped within 48 hours; 340 g bag, whole bean or ground; subscribe and save 15%; rated 4.9 from 612 reviews. A to C were written from those facts; D and E also had the bag photo shown here attached.

![Halden's product photo: Ethiopia Guji, Light Roast, the packshot attached to prompts D and E.](https://storetoads.com/samples/halden.webp)

### Prompt A: The ChatGPT morning pour-over prompt

*ChatGPT-style prompt, no photo.* Origin, notes, roast day, a pour-over in morning light and a subscribe button: how a roaster usually briefs ChatGPT.

> Create an Instagram ad for my coffee brand HALDEN. Product: Ethiopia Guji, light roast, single origin, 340 g kraft bag, tasting notes jasmine, peach and honey, roasted every Monday, $21. Show the bag with coffee beans and a pour-over, morning light. Include the brand name, the coffee name, the price and a "Subscribe and save 15%" button.

![AI output for the first prompt: a kraft coffee bag with an illustrated landscape label and no valve beside a pour-over and dark beans in morning light, with Halden Ethiopia Guji, light roast, the tasting notes, roasted every Monday, $21, a Subscribe and save 15% button and a badge row.](https://storetoads.com/prompts/coffee/A.webp)

*Made with GPT-5.4 Image 2 (OpenAI, through the OpenRouter API), October 17, 2026, for a fictional brand.*

**What went right**

- Every fact we gave is spelled right: Ethiopia Guji, light roast, single origin, jasmine, peach, honey, roasted every Monday, 340 g, $21, subscribe and save 15%.
- The layout has a clear hierarchy, and the button text is exactly what we asked for.

**What went wrong**

- The bag is someone else's design: a front label with an illustrated landscape and no valve. Halden's is plain kraft with a black one-way valve and the name in black capitals.
- A badge reads "Ethically traded, better for farmers". The product page makes no sourcing claim, and a claim like that needs records behind it.
- The beans look dark and oily, which is not what a light roast looks like.

**Could you run it?** Persuasive and wrong about the bag, plus one claim the roaster would have to prove.

### Prompt B: The Gemini café prompt with written benefits

*Gemini-style prompt, no photo.* "Beans flying in a splash, latte art, write three benefits": a typical Gemini coffee ad request.

> Generate a specialty coffee advertisement for Halden Ethiopia Guji Light Roast ($21). Kraft paper bag with a black valve and the HALDEN logo, coffee beans flying in a splash, latte art cup. Write a catchy headline and three benefits, add "4.9 stars from 612 reviews" and the price. Modern, premium café look.

![AI output for the second prompt: a kraft bag with a black valve and a Halden label reading Heirloom Variety, Natural Process, in a café with a latte and flying dark beans, under the headline Awaken your senses with the essence of Guji, with three benefits and 4.9 stars from 612 verified reviews.](https://storetoads.com/prompts/coffee/B.webp)

*Made with Nano Banana 2 (Gemini 3.1 Flash Image) (Google, through the OpenRouter API), October 17, 2026, for a fictional brand.*

Product changed · Text errors: 0 · Unasked details: 3

**What went right**

- Bag shape, valve and HALDEN name came out close, because the prompt described them.
- The price and the rating number match what we typed.

**What went wrong**

- The benefits list "bright bergamot and jasmine" and "rich blueberry and stone fruit". Halden's notes are jasmine, peach and honey; bergamot and blueberry are new.
- The label on the bag says "Heirloom Variety, Natural Process". This coffee is washed, and a natural-process Guji is a different coffee to a specialty buyer.
- It turned "612 reviews" into "612 Verified Reviews". Calling reviews verified is a claim about how they were collected.

**Could you run it?** Looks like a roaster's ad and describes a different coffee. Specialty buyers read exactly these details.

### Prompt C: The Midjourney-style flat lay prompt

*Midjourney-style keyword prompt, no photo.* "Kraft bag, one-way valve, pour-over dripper, peach slices, jasmine flowers, 8k": the format coffee photography prompts are shared in.

> specialty coffee product photography, kraft paper coffee bag with one-way valve, label reads "HALDEN Ethiopia Guji Light Roast", scattered light roast beans, ceramic pour-over dripper, peach slices and jasmine flowers, morning window light, steam, editorial, ultra realistic, 8k --ar 4:5 --style raw --v 7

![AI output for the third prompt: a kraft bag with a white sticker label reading Halden Ethiopia Guji Light Roast above a line of garbled small text, next to jasmine flowers, peach slices, beans and a white cup, with no ad text.](https://storetoads.com/prompts/coffee/C.webp)

*Made with FLUX.2 Pro (Black Forest Labs, through Higgsfield), October 17, 2026, for a fictional brand.*

Product changed · Text errors: 1 · Unasked details: 0

**What went right**

- HALDEN, Ethiopia Guji and LIGHT ROAST are spelled right on the label.
- Peach and jasmine props match two of the real notes, which makes a thoughtful flat lay.

**What went wrong**

- The small print under the name is gibberish: letters arranged like words that aren't.
- It added a white sticker label and replaced the valve with embossed dots; the real bag prints straight onto kraft.
- No price, no headline: the keyword prompt made a photo, not an ad.

**Could you run it?** A pretty styling shot with nonsense on the label. Keep it for mood, not for the product.

### Prompt D: ChatGPT with the bag photo

*ChatGPT-style prompt with the product photo.* Attach the bag and ask for a kitchen scene, the editing route OpenAI's help pages describe.

> Here is my product photo. Turn it into an Instagram ad for my coffee brand Halden. Put the bag on a kitchen counter next to a glass pour-over and a few beans, soft morning light. Keep the bag and its label exactly as they are. Add the headline "Jasmine, peach, honey.", "Roasted every Monday" and "$21 · Subscribe and save 15%".

![AI output for the fourth prompt: Halden's plain kraft bag with its black valve and small line Single Origin, Ethiopia Guji, Light Roast, 340g on a marble counter beside a glass pour-over and a few beans, under the headline Jasmine, peach, honey., with Roasted every Monday and $21, Subscribe and save 15%.](https://storetoads.com/prompts/coffee/D.webp)

*Made with GPT Image 2.5 (OpenAI, through Higgsfield), October 17, 2026, for a fictional brand.*

Product kept · Text errors: 0 · Unasked details: 0

**What went right**

- The bag matches the photo: kraft, black valve, HALDEN, the mountain mark and the small line "Single Origin · Ethiopia Guji · Light Roast · 340g", letter for letter.
- All three lines of text are exactly as sent.

**What went wrong**

- The few beans on the counter are a shade darker than a light roast. Minor, but roasters notice.

**Could you run it?** Publishable. It got the bag right because it had the bag, and the notes right because we wrote them.

### Prompt E: Gemini with the bag photo, pouring

*Gemini-style prompt with the product photo.* A hand pouring beans from the bag is a favourite "product photo Nano Banana prompt" for coffee.

> Use this exact coffee bag. Show a man's hand pouring beans from the open bag into a grinder on a wooden counter. Do not change the bag, the logo or the small text on it. Add the text "Ethiopia Guji, $21" at the top.

![AI output for the fifth prompt: a man's hand tipping Halden's kraft bag, with the Halden name running sideways up the bag, pouring dark beans into a grinder on a wooden counter, under the line Ethiopia Guji, $21.](https://storetoads.com/prompts/coffee/E.webp)

*Made with Nano Banana Pro (Gemini 3 Pro Image) (Google, through Higgsfield), October 17, 2026, for a fictional brand.*

Product changed · Text errors: 0 · Unasked details: 0

**What went right**

- Kraft bag, valve and mountain mark come through, and the pour into the grinder looks natural.
- The line at the top is exactly as asked.

**What went wrong**

- The label turned with the bag: HALDEN now runs sideways up the side instead of across the front, so the name is hard to read at a glance.
- The beans pouring out are dark, again more like a dark roast.

**Could you run it?** A good action shot with the logo in the wrong orientation. Ask for the front of the bag facing camera.

## What the five bags show

For coffee, the copy is the product: change a tasting note or the process and you're describing a different coffee. Every run spelled our own words right; the run that wrote its own benefits added bergamot and blueberry and printed natural process on a washed coffee.

Most runs drew beans darker than a light roast, the kind of detail a specialty buyer clocks immediately and a general image model doesn't know matters.

Attaching the bag fixed the bag: both photo runs kept it, and ChatGPT's kept the small print letter for letter. If you have one coffee and one afternoon, that's a workable route. Lines built on real notes and roast dates are on our [coffee ad ideas](https://storetoads.com/ad-ideas/coffee/) page; channels and subscriptions are in the [guide to advertising coffee](https://storetoads.com/how-to-advertise/coffee/).

## The same coffee, made by our engine

Made from Halden's product page: the engine read the origin, process, notes, roast day, price and reviews, placed the bag photo as it is, and checked every fact against the page.

### Halden: Jasmine. Peach. Honey.

![Dark Halden ad: 'Jasmine. Peach. Honey.' as the headline, the kraft bag in the center with a labeled callout for each tasting note, a 'Roasted every Monday' badge and a 'Taste it, $21' button.](https://storetoads.com/samples/ads/halden-02.webp)

*Fictional sample brand, made by our engine. Format: Product spotlight. Reason to buy: Taste.*

Jasmine, peach, honey, each pinned to the real bag, with the Monday roast day. These are the notes the Gemini run replaced with bergamot and blueberry.

Store facts used: Tasting notes, origin, process, roast day, $21.

### Halden: Roasted Monday. At your door in 48 hours.

![Orange and cream Halden ad: 'Roasted Monday. At your door in 48 hours.' with '48h' set huge, a 'Save 15%' subscription badge, a customer quote about freshness, a 'Subscribe & save 15%' button and the bag at $21.](https://storetoads.com/samples/ads/halden-03.webp)

*Fictional sample brand, made by our engine. Format: Big number. Reason to buy: Freshness.*

Roasted Monday, shipped within 48 hours, subscribe and save 15%: freshness facts no image model can know unless you type them, and nothing checks them when you do.

Store facts used: Roasted every Monday, shipped within 48 hours, subscribe and save 15%, $21.

### The difference, side by side

|  | An image model and a prompt | Our engine |
| --- | --- | --- |
| The bag | Redesigned from words (labels, no valve) or redrawn from your photo, sometimes turned | Your bag photo, cut out and placed as it is |
| Origin, process, notes | Yours if typed; the model's own when it writes copy (natural, bergamot) | Read from the product page and matched by the fact check |
| Reviews | Can relabel your count as "verified" | The rating and count as the store shows them |
| Formats | One image per prompt | One design in 4:5, 1:1, 9:16, 2:3 and 1.91:1 |
| New roasts | Re-prompt and re-check | New designs every Monday on weekly plans, using whatever you sell that week |

## A coffee prompt pack that starts from your bag photo

Attach a straight-on photo of your bag, front label facing camera, and use these in ChatGPT or Gemini. The brackets take your product page's wording, not paraphrases: specialty buyers notice.

### 1. The tasting notes ad

When the cup profile is the reason to buy.

```
Keep the attached coffee bag exactly as photographed: shape, valve, label text and colours, front facing camera. Place it on [SURFACE] with [PROPS FOR MY NOTES ONLY, e.g. peach slices]. Any beans shown must look [ROAST LEVEL], matching the roast. Add only: headline "[NOTE 1], [NOTE 2], [NOTE 3].", line "[ORIGIN] · [PROCESS] · [ROAST]", price "[PRICE]". No other words.
```

### 2. The freshness ad

When roast day and shipping speed set you apart.

```
Use the attached bag photo unchanged on a [COLOUR] background. Add only this text: "[ROAST DAY LINE FROM MY PAGE]" and "[SHIPPING LINE FROM MY PAGE]" and "[PRICE]". No badges or certifications.
```

### 3. The subscription ad

For subscribe-and-save offers.

```
Keep my attached bag exactly as it is and show [NUMBER] of them lined up on a shelf. Add only: "[SUBSCRIPTION OFFER, word for word]" and "[PRICE]". Do not add a percentage or offer I haven't written here.
```

### 4. The coffee check

After every image.

```
Compare the bag in your image with my photo and list every difference in shape, valve, label orientation and label text. Then list every coffee fact in the image (origin, process, notes, roast, weight) and mark any I did not give you. Fix both, changing nothing else.
```

## Tips for each tool, for coffee

### ChatGPT

- Attach the bag and ask for the front label facing camera. Our photo run kept every word on it, down to the 340g.
- Write the notes, process and origin yourself, in quotes. Never let the model "describe the flavour".
- Say what roast colour the beans should be; image models default to dark, glossy beans.

### Gemini

- Google's help page describes editing an uploaded image. Keep the instruction to "this exact bag" and describe only the action.
- In pouring or tilting shots, ask for the label to stay readable: our run turned the name sideways.
- If you let it write benefits, check every note and process word against your page; ours added two notes and the wrong process.

### Midjourney-style tools

- Keyword prompts are good at flat lays and cafés, poor at small label text: expect invented lettering under the name.
- Midjourney reads --ar at the end of a prompt, per its docs; other tools ignore it.
- Use the scene, then add your real bag photo in an editor rather than trusting a drawn one.

## Questions about coffee ad prompts

**Can ChatGPT make a coffee ad?**

Yes. From a description it made a polished ad with every fact we typed spelled right, but a bag Halden doesn't use and an ethical sourcing badge nobody asked for. From the bag photo, it kept the bag and its small print exactly.

**Why did AI change my coffee's tasting notes?**

Because we let it write the benefits. Models fill copy with what usually goes with a product, and bergamot and blueberry often go with Ethiopian coffee. If the notes matter, and in specialty coffee they do, put yours in quotes and ask for no other text.

**Why do AI coffee images show dark beans for a light roast?**

Most coffee photos online show dark, glossy beans, so that's what models draw unless told otherwise. Most of our runs did it. Say the roast level in the prompt, or keep loose beans out of the shot.

**Can I say "ethically sourced" in a coffee ad?**

Only if you can back it up, ideally by naming the farm, importer or programme. One of our AI runs added an ethically traded badge on its own; an unsupported claim like that is a deception risk whether a person or a model wrote it.

**Can I call my reviews "verified" in an ad?**

Only if your review app actually verifies purchases. One AI run relabelled our 612 reviews as verified without being asked. The FTC's rules on reviews and endorsements treat misleading claims about reviews as deceptive.

**How do I promote a coffee brand?**

Lead with what makes the cup different (origin, process, notes, roast date), prove it with reviews, and make subscriptions easy. Our guide to advertising coffee covers channels, a starting budget and subscription offers.

**What is a catchy tagline for a coffee brand?**

Specific beats clever for a small roaster: the notes in a row, the roast day, or a customer's comparison ("like peach tea"). Our coffee ad ideas page has lines like these, each tied to a fact on the product page.

**What are some famous coffee ads, and should I copy them?**

The famous ones are big chains' TV spots built on mood and ritual. A small roaster selling online has a feed and two seconds, so borrow the feeling and lead with your facts: the notes, the freshness, the price.

**Is Gemini or ChatGPT better for coffee ads?**

Both kept our bag when given the photo; ChatGPT's also kept it facing forward, while Gemini's turned the name sideways. Without a photo, both redesigned the bag. That's one run each, so test with your own bag.
