# Candle ad prompts, tested on one jar

Source: https://storetoads.com/ad-prompts/candles/

Candle ads look easy for AI: warm light, a flame, a cosy room. We ran five candle ad prompts for Pip & Oak, a fictional candle maker, through the models behind ChatGPT and Gemini and a Midjourney-style keyword prompt. The glow was lovely every time. The surprises were in the small print: a non-toxic badge nobody asked for, a jar size that doesn't exist, and a real magazine's name on a book beside the candle.

*Updated October 17, 2026. Every prompt ran once on October 17, 2026, for a fictional brand. Nothing was retried or cherry-picked.*

## What should a candle ad prompt include?

Your jar photo, with the instruction that the jar, label and lid stay unchanged; the scene; the scent notes, size and burn time exactly as your page states them; and "no other text, no badges, no book titles". Our runs added non-toxic claims and a real magazine's name whenever the prompt left room.

## The five prompts, run for real

Pip & Oak · Fig & Cedar Soy Candle · $32 · 4.9 from 938 reviews · fictional

Pip & Oak's product page: Fig & Cedar Soy Candle, $32; hand-poured soy wax with ripe fig, cedarwood and a hint of vanilla; cotton wick; 8 oz, about 50 hours of burn time; reusable amber glass jar with a wooden lid; rated 4.9 from 938 reviews. A to C worked from those words alone. D and E had the jar photo shown here attached.

![Pip & Oak's product photo: Fig & Cedar Soy Candle, the packshot attached to prompts D and E.](https://storetoads.com/samples/pipandoak.webp)

### Prompt A: The cosy ChatGPT poster

*ChatGPT-style prompt, no photo.* Scent, size, burn time, "autumn evening, warm glow" and a Shop now button: the standard candle prompt for ChatGPT.

> Create a cozy Instagram ad for my candle brand PIP & OAK. Product: Fig & Cedar Soy Candle, 8 oz, about 50 hours of burn time, hand-poured soy wax in a reusable amber glass jar with a wooden lid, $32. Show the candle lit on a wooden table, autumn evening, warm glow. Include the brand name, the scent name, the price and a "Shop now" button.

![AI output for the first prompt: a lit amber jar candle with a tall cream label and an engraved wooden lid on a table with autumn leaves and figs, beside a book with a real magazine's title, with Fig & Cedar Soy Candle, 8 oz, 50 hour burn time, $32 and a row of badges including clean, non-toxic and phthalate free.](https://storetoads.com/prompts/candles/A.webp)

Product changed · Text errors: 0 · Unasked details: 2

**What went right**

- The copy we supplied is all correct: Pip & Oak, Fig & Cedar, 8 oz, 50 hour burn time, $32.
- Amber jar, wooden lid and lit wick are all there, and the autumn scene suits the scent.

**What went wrong**

- A badge row adds "Clean, non-toxic & phthalate free". The product page says neither, and a non-toxic claim needs proof under the FTC's Green Guides.
- The book on the table carries a real magazine's title, someone else's trademark sitting in your ad.
- The label grew taller with extra lines of text, and the lid got an engraved logo the real one doesn't have.

**Could you run it?** The mood is right and two details would need removing before it ran: the unproven badge and the borrowed magazine name.

### Prompt B: The Gemini "hygge" prompt with written benefits

*Gemini-style prompt, no photo.* Asking for a headline and three benefits in a cosy scene is the most common Gemini candle request, and the one that writes claims.

> Generate a candle advertisement poster for Pip & Oak Fig & Cedar Soy Candle ($32). Amber glass jar, cream label, wooden lid beside it, lit flame. Cozy living room, knit blanket, figs. Write a catchy headline and three short benefits, and show "4.9 stars from 938 reviews". Warm, hygge, premium.

![AI output for the second prompt: a lit amber candle labelled Pip & Oak Fig & Cedar, 9 oz, on a table by a fireplace and a knit blanket, under the headline Embrace the warmth. Ignite the cozy., with three benefits, 4.9 stars from 938 reviews and a made-up web address and social handle.](https://storetoads.com/prompts/candles/B.webp)

*Made with Nano Banana 2 (Gemini 3.1 Flash Image) (Google, through the OpenRouter API), October 17, 2026, for a fictional brand.*

Product changed · Text errors: 1 · Unasked details: 3

**What went right**

- The rating line is word for word: 4.9 stars from 938 reviews.
- The fireplace, blanket and figs make a warm, believable room.

**What went wrong**

- The label says "9oz / 255g". The candle is 8 oz.
- One benefit reads "non-toxic, phthalate-free"; another describes "warm amber notes". Neither is on the product page, and the third note is vanilla, not amber.
- It invented a web address and a social handle for the brand. Nobody checked who owns them; they could send buyers to a stranger.
- The candle sits close to a knit blanket, a styling choice NFPA's candle safety advice warns against.

**Could you run it?** Four fixes before it could run, and one of them, the wrong size on the jar, is on the product itself.

### Prompt C: The Midjourney-style still life

*Midjourney-style keyword prompt, no photo.* "Amber glass jar candle, lit cotton wick, bokeh, cinematic": the shape of most candle photography prompts.

> soy candle product photography, amber glass jar candle, cream label that reads "PIP & OAK Fig & Cedar", wooden lid leaning on the jar, lit cotton wick, fresh figs and cedar sprigs, warm candlelight, cozy autumn interior, bokeh, cinematic, photorealistic, 8k --ar 4:5 --v 7 --style raw

![AI output for the third prompt: a lit amber jar candle with a cream label reading Pip & Oak in serif and Fig & Cedar in script, its wooden lid leaning on the jar, among figs and cedar sprigs with warm bokeh, and no ad text.](https://storetoads.com/prompts/candles/C.webp)

*Made with FLUX.2 Pro (Black Forest Labs, through Higgsfield), October 17, 2026, for a fictional brand.*

Product changed · Text errors: 0 · Unasked details: 0

**What went right**

- The label reads PIP & OAK and Fig & Cedar, spelled correctly.
- Jar, lid, figs and cedar are all as described, and the light is soft and warm.

**What went wrong**

- The label lettering is a new design: a bolder serif with Fig & Cedar in script, not the brand's spaced capitals and small line.
- There's no price or headline, so this is a photo for an ad, not an ad.

**Could you run it?** A usable backdrop shot with a re-lettered label. Fine for mood, wrong for the product.

### Prompt D: ChatGPT with the jar photo

*ChatGPT-style prompt with the product photo.* Attach the jar and ask for the scene around it: the workflow OpenAI's help pages describe for editing an uploaded image.

> Here is my product photo. Make it a cozy Instagram ad for my candle brand Pip & Oak. Light the candle and place it on an oak side table next to a book and a few figs, evening light. Keep the jar, label and lid exactly as they are. Add the headline "Fig, cedar and a hint of vanilla", "8 oz. About 50 hours." and the price $32.

![AI output for the fourth prompt: Pip & Oak's lit amber jar with its original label and wooden lid on a round oak table beside halved figs and a book whose spine shows a real magazine's name, under the headline Fig, cedar and a hint of vanilla, 8 oz. About 50 hours. and $32.](https://storetoads.com/prompts/candles/D.webp)

*Made with GPT Image 2.5 (OpenAI, through Higgsfield), October 17, 2026, for a fictional brand.*

Product kept · Text errors: 0 · Unasked details: 1

**What went right**

- Jar, label and lid match the photo, small line included: Fig & Cedar · 8 oz · 50 hour burn.
- Headline, size, burn time and price are exactly what we wrote.

**What went wrong**

- We asked for "a book" and it chose one with a real magazine's name on the spine. That's another company's mark in your ad; Meta's rules on third-party intellectual property apply to what's in the picture too.

**Could you run it?** The candle is right and the ad is nearly there. Ask for a plain, untitled book, or crop it out.

### Prompt E: Gemini with the jar photo, in hands

*Gemini-style prompt with the product photo.* A hands-around-the-glow shot is the classic candle lifestyle frame, and a tough test for hands and flames.

> Use this exact candle. Show two hands cupping the lit candle on a windowsill on a rainy evening. Do not change the jar, the label or the lid. Add the text "Fig & Cedar, $32" at the top.

![AI output for the fifth prompt: two hands around Pip & Oak's lit amber candle on a windowsill with rain on the glass, the wooden lid pressed to the side of the jar, inside a white frame under the line Fig & Cedar, $32.](https://storetoads.com/prompts/candles/E.webp)

*Made with Nano Banana Pro (Gemini 3 Pro Image) (Google, through Higgsfield), October 17, 2026, for a fictional brand.*

Product kept · Text errors: 0 · Unasked details: 0

**What went right**

- The label is faithful, the flame looks real and the rainy window sets the mood well.
- The hands are natural, with the right number of fingers.

**What went wrong**

- One hand presses the wooden lid against the side of the jar, a pose nobody holds a candle in.
- It framed the photo inside a white border with the text above, rather than putting the text on the image.

**Could you run it?** A good mood frame with an odd lid. Crop the border and it works as a Story.

## What the five candles show

The jar and the glow were never the problem; every run produced an inviting candle. The problems were added on: a non-toxic badge in two runs, a 9 oz label, amber in a vanilla candle, a web address and handle the brand never registered, and a real magazine's title twice.

Attaching the photo kept the jar and label in both D and E. It didn't stop the scene from bringing in someone else's brand, because "a book" to an image model is often a real one.

A candle ad's claims are where trouble starts: non-toxic and clean need evidence, and burn time has to match your own testing. A prompt reproduces whatever is typed into it and makes up the rest. Our [candle ad ideas](https://storetoads.com/ad-ideas/candles/) page lists lines that stay on the right side of that, and the [guide to advertising candles](https://storetoads.com/how-to-advertise/candles/) covers channels and the gifting calendar.

## The same candle, made by our engine

These came from Pip & Oak's product page. The engine read the notes, size, burn time, price and reviews, placed the jar photo as it is, and passed only claims the page makes.

### Pip & Oak: Fig. Cedar. A little vanilla.

![Dark Pip & Oak ad: 'Fig. Cedar. A little vanilla.' with callouts on the real jar for the cotton wick, the reusable amber glass jar and the wooden lid, and a bar reading 8 oz, about 50 hours of burn time, 'Light it tonight, $32'.](https://storetoads.com/samples/ads/pipandoak-02.webp)

*Fictional sample brand, made by our engine. Format: Annotated hero. Reason to buy: Ritual.*

Cotton wick, reusable amber jar, wooden lid, 8 oz, about 50 hours: each callout is a line from the product page. No non-toxic badge appears because the page never says it.

Store facts used: Scent notes, cotton wick, reusable jar, wooden lid, 8 oz, about 50 hours, $32.

### Pip & Oak: One candle. ____ hours of glow.

![Brown Pip & Oak ad: 'One candle. ____ hours of glow.' with a blank in the headline, answered by an oval label reading 'about 50 hours of burn time'. An amber jar of Fig & Cedar candle with a wooden lid, $32, 4.9 from 938 reviews, and a 'Shop Fig & Cedar' button.](https://storetoads.com/samples/ads/pipandoak-07.webp)

*Fictional sample brand, made by our engine. Format: Fill in the blank. Reason to buy: Value.*

The 50 hours of burn time as a fill-in-the-blank, answered on the ad. The 8 oz on the jar is the real label, so it can't turn into 9 oz.

Store facts used: 8 oz, about 50 hours of burn time, $32, 4.9 from 938 reviews, hand-poured soy wax, cotton wick.

Matched by the fact check: $32, 4.9 rating, 938 reviews, 8 oz, 50 hours.

### Pip & Oak: Smells like a walk through a fig orchard.

![Cream Pip & Oak ad led by the quote 'Smells like a walk through a fig orchard', 4.9 from 938 reviews, two short review cards and the amber candle jar with its wooden lid, with a 'Shop Fig & Cedar, $32' button.](https://storetoads.com/samples/ads/pipandoak-01.webp)

*Fictional sample brand, made by our engine. Format: Review card. Reason to buy: Social proof.*

Customer reviews quoted word for word with the 4.9 rating from 938 reviews. The props are the brand's own, with no stray titles or logos.

Store facts used: Verbatim reviews, 4.9 from 938 reviews, $32.

### The difference, side by side

| | An image model, prompted | Our engine |
| --- | --- | --- |
| The jar and label | Re-lettered or resized unless you attach the photo | The jar photo, cut out and placed unchanged |
| Claims | Adds non-toxic, phthalate-free and new notes when it writes copy | Only what the product page states, matched by a fact check |
| Props | Can bring in real titles, logos and handles from its training | Layouts use type and your photos, no borrowed marks |
| Sizes | A new image, and a new check, for each format | One design in 4:5, 1:1, 9:16, 2:3 and 1.91:1 |
| Each week | Start the prompts again | Weekly plans deliver new designs every Monday |

## A candle prompt pack that starts from your jar photo

Attach a clean photo of your candle (label facing the camera, lid off to the side) and use these in ChatGPT or Gemini. Every bracket is a fact from your product page, copied exactly.

### 1. The scent ad

When the notes are the reason to buy.

```
Keep the attached candle photo exactly as it is: jar, label lettering, lid and wax colour. Light the wick with a small, natural flame. Place it on [SURFACE] with [PROPS THAT MATCH MY NOTES], all at least a foot from the flame. Add only: headline "[NOTE 1], [NOTE 2], [NOTE 3]", line "[SIZE]. [BURN TIME AS MY PAGE STATES IT].", price "[PRICE]". No badges, no book titles, no logos.
```

### 2. The burn time ad

When value per hour sells it.

```
Use the attached jar photo unchanged, unlit, on a plain [COLOUR] background. Add only this text: "[BURN TIME] hours from one [SIZE] candle" and "[PRICE]". Nothing else on the image.
```

### 3. The gift ad

Q4, Mother's Day, housewarming season.

```
Use my attached candle photo without changing it. Show it with [ONE GIFT PROP, e.g. a linen ribbon] on [SURFACE]. Add only: "[GIFT LINE FROM MY PAGE]" and "[PRICE]". Any books or packaging in the scene must be plain, with no words on them.
```

### 4. The prop check

Before you download anything.

```
List every word, logo, title and handle visible anywhere in the image you made, including books, packaging and labels, and every difference between the candle and my photo. Then remove any word I didn't give you and fix the candle to match my photo.
```

## Tips for each tool, for candles

### ChatGPT

- With the jar attached and "keep the jar, label and lid", our run kept the label down to the burn time line.
- Say "plain book, no title" if a book is in shot: ours arrived with a real magazine's name on it.
- Don't leave claims to the model. If your page doesn't say non-toxic, the ad mustn't either.

### Gemini

- Upload the jar and describe only the room; Google's help page covers editing an uploaded image.
- Ask for text on the image without a border, or crop the frame it adds.
- Read the jar size on any label it redraws: our no-photo run turned 8 oz into 9 oz.

### Midjourney-style tools

- A keyword prompt re-letters your label in its own style, so treat the result as a backdrop.
- Keep fabrics, leaves and paper a believable distance from the flame in the scene you describe.
- The --ar flag works in Midjourney only (see its parameter list); other tools pick their own shape.

## Questions about candle ad prompts

**Can ChatGPT make a candle ad?**

Yes, and quickly. From a description, its model made an attractive candle ad with every typed word right, plus a non-toxic badge and a real magazine on the table. With the jar photo attached, it kept the label exactly but still picked a titled book.

**Can I say my candle is non-toxic in an ad?**

Only with solid evidence. The FTC's Green Guides say a non-toxic claim implies the product is safe for people and the environment, and you need proof for that. Two of our five AI runs added the claim on their own.

**Why did the AI put a magazine in my candle ad?**

Image models learned from photos full of real products and publications, and "a book on the table" often comes back as a recognisable one. Putting another company's name in your ad is a trademark risk, so ask for plain, untitled props and check every word in the image.

**What is a catchy slogan for candles?**

The ones that sell small brands are specific: the notes ("Fig, cedar, a little vanilla"), the hours ("About 50 hours of glow") or a customer's words. Our candle ad ideas page has more lines, each tied to a fact a store can prove.

**Should my candle ad show a lit flame?**

A lit flame sells the mood, and it's what most buyers picture. Keep the styling sensible: NFPA's candle safety advice is to keep candles at least a foot from anything that can burn, which rules out the blanket-hugging shots AI tends to make.

**Is Gemini or ChatGPT better for candle ads?**

Both kept our jar when given the photo. Gemini's version framed the image and posed an odd lid; ChatGPT's needed only the book fixed. From words alone, both invented claims. One run each isn't a verdict, so try your own jar in both.

**How do I advertise my candle business?**

Sell the scent in words people can picture, prove the burn time and quality with reviews, and plan around gifting season. Our guide to advertising candles covers channels, a starting budget and the Q4 calendar.

**What are some unique candle ad ideas?**

Burn time as a number, the jar's second life as a planter, a lit and unlit pair, a gift list in a notes app. Each needs a real fact behind it, which is what a prompt can't supply on its own.

**Will an AI image keep my candle label the same?**

Only if you attach the photo, and even then it redraws it. In our runs the photo versions kept the label; the word versions re-lettered it, and one changed the size printed on the jar.
